The community is the only locale on the East End to have a working watermill and windmill. As such, several museums pay tribute to Water Mill’s rich American history. The hamlet has a vibrant art scene as well. Internationally-known art museums imbue vibrant culture into the small community. Located in the town of Southampton, Water Mill houses a star-studded neighborhood. The community’s coastal real estate is highly sought-after, especially grand estates situated on Flying Point Beach. Water Mill’s dining, entertainment, and shopping options are the epitome of class. Hampton Coffee Company is an espresso cafe, bakery, and juice bar serving all-day brunch. Water Mill is the java shop’s flagship location, featuring an alfresco patio where diners can savor delicious coffee, baked goods, and juices. A hotspot among locals, Suki Zuki is a trendy Japanese eatery featuring a robust menu of fresh sushi, robata grill specialties, and smooth sakes. Bistro Ete is a Greek-French fusion restaurant beloved by Water Mill locals. Headed by Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef Arie Pavlou, this hidden jewel serves up mouthwatering food and drink with a Mediterranean flair.
 
Well-known throughout Long Island is the scenic Duck Walk Vineyards. This family-owned winery touts over 100 acres of vineyards that have produced more than 5,000 cases of award-winning wine. Duck Walk Vineyards is a staple in the Hamptons and offers wine tours and tastings. Seasonal activities are a major part of Watermill’s entertainment offerings as well. Hank’s Pumpkintown is the spot for picking juicy apples and eating scrumptious pumpkin donuts in the fall. When it gets cold in the winter, locals will get together to ice skate on Mill Pond or ice sail on Mecox Bay.
 
Water Mill shops are limited to small boutiques selling specialty goods. Farm stands are most common in the area, with Green Thumb, The Milk Pail, and Halsey Farm & Nursery being the most prominent.

Things to Do 

Water Mill has an impressive art scene and significant historical background. The hamlet got its name from a working watermill that was built back in 1664. Today, the restored water mill is a rural museum that showcases art and depicts history. The Watermill Center also promotes artistry through visual works and performance acts. The center provides guided tours and meditations and has both a library and garden open for guests to enjoy. The world-class Parrish Art Museum has over 3,000 artistic pieces, displays special rotating exhibitions, and offers over 100 public classes and workshops annually.

Flying Point Beach is the hamlet’s main beach. It is beautiful and clean, making it ideal for a relaxing beach weekend. Picnicking, fishing, kayaking, and sand volleyball are all popular pastimes at this lovely beach. It’s common to see locals driving along the oceanfront in their decked-out ATVs too.
